Why choose Titanium

Titanium offers a high strength to weight ratio and extraordinary corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for medical, marine, hand tools, sporting goods, and high performance automotive applications.

Grades

Although we are able to provide castings in any grade of titanium our most common titanium castings are Ti6Al-4V (Grade 5) and the commercial pure titanium (TiCP) Grade 2.

If you require another grades please contact us.

Grade 2 Titanium

Titanium Grade 2 is an unalloyed titanium and is considered a “commercially pure” titanium (TiCP).

Grade 2 titanium is the most commonly used TiCP, thanks to its varied usability and wide availability. With moderate strength and excellent corrosion resistance it also offers ductility and high impact toughness, and good weldability.

Grades 2 is not hardenable by heat treatment.

It is used commonly in applications that require welding because of its good weldability properties. Titanium Grade 2 is light weight and highly corrosion resistant.

Applications include

Chemical Processes: Grade 2 titanium is highly resistant to chemical environments including oxidising, alkaline, organic acids and compounds, aqueous salt solutions and hot gases. Its corrosion resistance holds up in, nitric acid, mildly reducing acids and wet chlorine or bromine gas.

Marine: In seawater, Grade 2 is resistant to corrosion at temperatures up to 315°C, rendering it ideal for a variety of marine uses.

Grade 5 Titanium

Titanium Grade 5 is the most commonly used Titanium worldwide

Titanium Grade 5 is alloyed with 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium and is commonly known as Ti 6Al-4V.

Grade 5 or Ti 6Al-4V, accounts for 50 percent of total titanium usage the world over. It can be heat treated to enhance mechanical properties.

It can be used in welded fabrication at service temperatures of up to 315°C. This alloy offers high strength at a light weight, useful formability and high corrosion resistance.

Applications include

Aerospace, medical, marine and chemical processing industries and oil field services.

Maximum Size/Weight of Titanium castings

Generally maximum size is components that would fit into a cube of approx. 500mm. We can go longer in one direction but would have to evaluate the part. Maximum part weight approx. 10 kg.
